Today is the day! We are having our first livestock processed, Porkchop and
Bacon are on their way to the butcher as I write. Boy I never knew how quickly piglets grow into 275 pound hogs and are ready to be processed. Being our first meat to be processed is exciting and saddening all at the same time. I had named them the way I did for the purpose of reminding me every single day of their purpose here on the homestead. My freezer will be filled for the winter to come. I hope one day to be able to raise steer for the same purpose but at this time I am taking it one step at a time.
